The Linnet Story

Oline Matilde Linnet
Our story starts with Oline Matilde Linnet, our Great Grandmother, born to Karen & Lars Linnet.

Karl Matinus Andersen
Oline Matilde married Karl Matinus Andersen and between them had 7 children. All three girls, Erna, Karen & Anna and four boys, Johannes, Anders, Laurids & Niels, were given Linnet as a middle name.

These 7, the original 7 in our Linnet line, also passed on Linnet as a middle name to most of their 19 children. . . . 10 girls and 9 boys in total.

Johannes Litten Andersen
Our Grandfather, Johannes Linnet Andersen, was the first born of Oline and Karl and therefore oldest of the original 7.

Mary Johansen
Johannes married Mary Johansen and between them had 3 girls, Elna, Esther and Inge. . . .needles to say, the three were given Linnet as a middle name.

The three sisters, our mothers, had a total of 14 children between them. All but 2 of these children have Linnet as a middle name.

There is a strong link to farming running through the family ancestry. Most of the family were based in Central Jylland (Jotland), Denmark, with a focus around the little village of Bække.

Just up the road from Bække is ÅLEFLASKEGÅRD, the farm where Johannes and Mary, our Grandparents, lived for many years and where the three sisters, our mothers, grow up.

Åleflaskegård

Also, not far from Bække is LINNETGÅRD (Linnet farm) linked to the Linnet family and therefore, in some way, to Oline Matilde Linnet, our Great Grandmother. We are still researching the exact link.
